Election Postponement Can't Deny Nigerians' Wishes - Ogunbanjo

By Michael-Azeez Ogunsiji

ABEOKUTA - The Ogun State governorship candidate of Alliance For New Nigeria (ANN), Mr.  Ademola Ogunbanjo has urged party supporters to remain steadfast in their commitment to ensure victory for the party in the rescheduled general elections.

Ogunbanjo who expressed shock at the sudden postponement of the election earlier scheduled to Saturday February 16, said delay in the elections did not amount to denial of voters wishes at the poll.

He equally called on Nigerians to exercise patience with INEC and give it the benefit of the doubt.

He applauded INEC for taking the bull by the horns by declaring its inefficiency to conduct the election, rather than hurriedly conducting a compromised election.

He therefore urged the electorate to be extra vigilant and be more resolute in their determination to defeat what he described as the "evil agenda of the enemies of democracy".

"They have four years to plan, they still went wrong. We must also understand that there is psychological and economical  cost to this postponement. I am particularly disappointed, and the postponement will discourage the electorate to come out for the rescheduled.

"But we must also appreciate INEC for being sincere and coming out to say they are not ready for the election, rather than conducting a sham elections that will be marred with irregularities".
