ABEOKUTA - Suspected Thugs believed to be members of Allied People’s Movement (APM) on Thursday, disrupted and shot dead one Thompson Emeka during a peaceful rally held by the Ogun State House Of Assembly candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) at Ifo, in Ifo1 state constituency.
Speaking with Hon. Olakunle Oluomo on phone, the APC House of Assembly candidate said that some thugs of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) attacked his supporters after they had held a peaceful rally and were returning to his constituency office.
Oluomo , current Deputy Speaker, Ogun House of Assembly said “Our boys allowed them to pass without hindrance only for APM thugs to open fire on our members bringing one of them down.
“I understand they are now pulling down the canopy and destroying all our properties in our constituency office at bungalow area of Ifo.
“We then contacted the police immediately, which they came right on time, and took control of the environment, so as to secure all our members.
Some of the members who were injured are; Mr, Sokunbi, Ali- Dan to mention a few.
“The corpse has been deposited to Ifo mortuary, while those that were injured have been taking to the hospital for medical attention,” he said.
The lawmaker called on the State Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, to ensure that the perpetrators of the evil act were brought to book immediately.
He also stated that the police should ensure adequate security during the Saturday governorship election.
