Egba Youth Football Championship Will Promote Unity, Eradicate Crimes

ABEOKUTA - The second edition of Egba Youth Football Championship will foster unity and eradicate crimes among the youths of Abeokuta, the organizer has said.


The championship will kick off on March 6, 2020 among 24 grassroots football clubs within the six local governments in Ogun central.

The teams were divided into six groups, with the winner and runners up and four best losers advanced to the round of 16.

One of the organizers of the competition, Alex Soyinka said that, the champions will go home with cash prize of N50,000, while individual Awards of MVP and Golden Boot to the highest goalscorer will come with cash prize.

Soyinka explained that, the competition was not for fun alone, but to facilitate developmental projects to the host community and serve as empowerment for the youths.

Meanwhile, the member, representing Abeokuta South Federal Constituency, Hon. Lanre Edun has promised to kit all the eight quarter-finalist teams with complete jerseys.
