Ogunpola Gives Back To Ancestral Community, Donates Exercise Books To Ogun Primary School

ABEOKUTA - As parts of his social responsibility to his community, a philanthropist and banker, Akinyele Ogunpola on Wednesday donated notebooks and other writing materials to African Church Central Nursery and Primary school, Abalabi in Ewekoro local government area of Ogun state. 

The writing materials worth over N250,000 was presented by the facilitator, Akinyele Ogunpola to the school headmistress, Mrs. Olalere. 

Ogunpola said the initiative was borne out of his educational support programme for the less privileged and indigent students in the state. 

He said the initiative was founded in 2017 has impacted tremendously in uplifting the socio-economic of the state.

He added that, the objectives of the group was to give to the downtrodden and contribute to the progress of the society. 

While presenting the items to the headmistress of the school, Ogunpola said he chosed the community school as a way of giving back to his forebearers' community.

Ogunpola therefore promised to take the initiative to his immediate local government, Abeokuta North, calling on other philanthropists to take a cue and support the state government. 

"It is a new initiative, it is called educational support initiative by me Akinyele Ogunpola. So, I am starting from my origin here, this is where I came from, I came from Ajegunle/Abalabi. 

"I am starting from this primary school because this is my origin where the name Ogunpola came from and this is where my forebearers came from. I am still going round the state to support indigent students whose parents cannot afford to buy writing materials."

While speaking on behalf of the community, the Baale of Ajegunle/Abalabi, Chief Musibau Adio Ogunpola expressed satisfaction with the donation of the writing materials to the pupils.

The Baale said the donation would go a long way in cushioning the financial challenges faced by parents to buy writing materials for the pupils in the village.
