ABEOKUTA - There seems to be palpable fear among members of the Amalgamated and Commercial Motorcycle Riders Association of Nigeria (ACOMORAN) in Ogun state over the postponement of the election into Chairmanship position of the association.
The Ogun state government through its transport committee headed by Barr. Sunday Adeniyi had initially fixed Wednesday, 19th February for election.
Loyalists of the two strong contenders, Kayode Sowunmi and Shotayo Razaq otherwise known as Sholebo are already seen congratulating themselves while some have designed customized yellow face caps with their brand names.
However, the members who were warming up for celebration tomorrow were shocked to have heard about the postponement of the election.
While some were disappointed, others accused the immediate past Chairman of the association, Alhaji Shamsideen Apelogun behind the postponement.
Some loyalists of Sholebo accused Apelogun of threatening to thwart any voting arrangement which may favour Sholebo against his alleged preferred candidate, Kayode Sowunmi.
Those who spoke with our reporter opined that the postponement was an attempt to scuttle chances of members to elect their preferred candidate.
They threatened to resist any attempt to impose unpopular candidate on them by the transport committee.
Meanwhile, efforts to get the reaction of the transport committee to confirm the election postponement was abortive as calls and text message sent to the committee Chairman, Barr. Femi Sunday Adeniyi was unreplied as at time of filing this report.
