ABEOKUTA - As part of measures at curbing the spread of coronavirus within the local government area, Ijebu-Ode local government has embarked on sensitization exercise on production of locally made hand sanitizer among the market leaders, meat sellers in Abbattoir of the Council Area.
The sensitization which took place at the local government secretariat in Itoro, Ijebu-Ode was part of measures of the council to protect the market women and men.
Speaking at the programme, the Chairman of Ijebu-Ode local government, Engr. Olugbenga Olugbile said it became necessary to sensitize and protect the market women from the deadly virus.
"I can tell our people that Ijebu-Ode local government is producing it's own locally made sanitizer which will be given free to every individual and at the same time we are teaching the market women how to make the sanitizer free of charge and how to make use of it." Olugbile said.
He therefore, urged market leaders to put in place hand washing buckets, soaps and water at all entry of the markets for every individual to wash their hands before gaining entry to the market.

Also speaking, the head of local government administration, Dr. Adeolu Olufowobi urged market leaders to cooperate with the local government at sensitizing the individuals that comes to the market saying the local government is ready to procure a temperature meter for the market that would be used at checking the temperature of people that comes to the market.
The health Educator, in the local government, Mrs Abiola Bakare who took the session of teaching the market leaders how to produce the sanitizer said individuals should imbibe the habit of washing hands with liquid soap and running water, as well as sanitising their hands regularly.
