ABEOKUTA - A Federal High Court sitting in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital has restrained the Bayo Dayo led faction of the Ogun state People's Democratic Party from going ahead with its planned congress scheduled to hold on Saturday, March 7th, 2020.

THE ENCOUNTER NEWS reports that, Kashamu's group and the other faction led by former House of Representatives member, Ladi Adebutu had been enmeshed in fierce battle for the control of the party structure.

The crisis took another twist of event penultimate week when the Secretary of the party in the state, Hon. Semiu Sodipo a strong loyalist to Bayo Dayo executive, joined Hon. Ladi Adebutu faction of the PDP in the state.

While Semiu Sodipo had insisted on the NWC's position on Ogun PDP Congresses, the Bayo Dayo led faction said they would go ahead to conduct Congresses at all levels in the state.

But in a swift reaction, the Bayo Dayo led faction on Friday approached the court to file an application ex parte to allow the court grant his faction the go-ahead to conduct congress across the state.

Challenging the new application, Barr. Olumuyiwa Obanewa, who is the counsel to the defendant, Semiu Sodipo, said the new suit is an abuse of court process as the judge refused counsel loyal the Bayo Dayo to go ahead with the congress.

Speaking to journalists shortly after the court ruling, Counsel to the defendant, Barr. Olumuyiwa Obanewa said a Federal High Court in Abuja had last week Tuesday directed the party not to hold any congress in Ogun State.

He expressed disappointment in Bayo Dayo's faction for alleged flagrant disobedience to court order and party decision.

In his reaction, the State Chairman of PDP, Chief Bayo Dayo has vowed to embark on the ward congress tomorrow, saying the court cannot decide the fate of the party activities.

The Judge however adjourned to the 18th of March, 2020.
