We Have Rescued Education From Total Collapse In Ogun - Abiodun

ABEOKUTA - Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has disclosed that his administration has saved the education sector from total collapse.

Governor Abiodun noted that before the emergence of his administration, education remains a privilege for indigenes of the state with government primary and secondary schools abandoned while tertiary education was almost shut down.

The governor disclosed this on Saturday at the 2020 National Inauguration/Swearing-in ceremony of the National executives of National Association of Ogun State Students (NAOSS) held at the NUJ secretariat, Iwe-Irohin House, Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta. 

Abiodun who was represented by his Special Assistant on Student Affairs, Comrade Adeyemi Azeez reiterated his administration's commitment to provide solid foundation for quality education and building a new model for unparallel standard of education in the state. 

He said his government has demonstrated seriousness in changing the fortunes of education and solving the mirages of challenges confronting the sector. 

He explained that the crises that bedevilled Tai Solarin College of Education (TASCE) and Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta before his administration came on board were resolved peacefully. 

"Our government is laying a solid foundation for quality education, we are building a new model for unparallel standard of education. 

"Before we assumed office, education was nothing to write home about. Primary and secondary schools were totally abandoned while tertiary education was almost shut down. 

"I want to state that the administration of Dapo Abiodun is irrevocably and undoubtedly committed to the provision of qualitative and quantitative education to good people of the state. This administration is resolved to return the lost glory of education in the state."

"In the last time ten months, this administration will has demonstrated seriousness in changing the fortunes of education and solving the mirages of challenges confronting the sector. This administration is not unaware of the fact that education is the bedrock of any meaningful development in the society, therefore, we will not relent in our efforts to improve the standard of education."

In his remark, the newly inaugurated National NAOSS President, Comrade Gbemileke Ogunrombi appealed to Governor Abiodun to maintain the robust working relationship between the students body and the government. 

Ogunrombi urged the state government to ensure prompt payment of bursary across all institutions and give scholarships to both outstanding and indigent students.
