COVID-19: Olowu, Ajibola, Reject Fola Adeola's Residence As Isolation Centre

ABEOKUTA - Olowu of Owu, Oba Adegboyega Dosunmu and former world court judge, Prince Bola Ajibola have kicked against the move by the state government to cite COVID -19 Isolation Center in Obasanjo Hiltop Hiltop, GRA, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Ogun state. 

This was stated  in a petition signed by the Chairman of Olusegun Obasanjo Hiltop Residents Associations II, Bishop Reuben Olu Oke and Secretary, Mrs Osunmuyiwa, stating that the isolation center will have a negative disasters on the residents of the community.

They argued that, the property owned by a foremost banker, Fola Adeola cannot be converted to isolation centre, saying as aged people they are vulnerable to contacting the disease if the centre is located in their vicinity. 

It added "We appreciate the fact that the whole of Nigeria is currently battling to curtail the surge and spread of the most deadly health disaster occassioned by COVID-19, we are particularly alarmed as individuals and as community, that a non-residents owner of an abandoned property, by name Mr Afolabi Adeola has purportedly donated his property in the estate to be converted to isolation center for the first purpose of victims of COVID -19

''Your Excellency, the community is comprised of retired and  aged residents and other vulnerable individuals whose health and well -being would be most negatively affected by the potential conversion or citing of isolation in the neighborhood. 

''We wish to state categorically, that this complaints is not, and should be not be seen as a deliberate step to discourage a most charitable disposition of the donor to public school health issues and related social concerns.

''It is in view of the foregoing message that we most humbly appeal to you to use your good office as the executive governor of Ogun State to cause the immediate stoppage of the use of the facility as COVID-19 isolation center due to potential health related disasters that it might cause to vulnerable residents and generality of the community''. 

They therefore urged Abiodun not to use the donated facility for other non-sensitive purposes.
