ABEOKUTA - A 43year-old man, Joshua Ibrahim who was arrested for defrauding a police officer and a pastor huge sum of money has been rearrested for stealing a new born baby placenta in Ogun state.
The suspect who deceived the victims under the pretence of procuring Canadian visa for them was arrested following a report by the grandmother of the baby, Raliha Zakara at Ibafo divisional Police station.
The grandmother explained that, the accused who is her neighbour came to the hospital where her daughter delivered the baby on the pretense that he is the father of the new baby and demanded for the placenta from nurse on duty.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi told journalists in a press statement that, upon the report the DPO Ibafo Division, SP Abiodun Ayinde detailed his detectives to the scene where the suspect was arrested.
Oyeyemi said the accused had taken the detectives to where he hid the placenta.
He said added that, the Commissioner of Police, CP Kenneth Ebrimson has directed that a thorough investigation should be carried out and that the suspect should be charged to court as soon as possible.
