ABEOKUTA - Ifedayo Community Development Association, Olomore in Abeokuta North local government area of Ogun state has complemented efforts of the state government at cushioning the effect of the ravaging COVID-19 on the people of the state.

The CDA on Sunday bought two 50kg bags of rice and four cartoons of noodles to be shared among residents of the community.

Speaking with THE ENCOUNTER NEWS, the CDA Chairman, Chief Gbenga Ogunwale explained that, the move became imperative following the insignificant relief package donated by the state government to the CDA.

Ogunwale noted that, the government relief package was not enough to be distributed among the 800 households in the community which necessitated the community to constitute a welfare committee.

He further stressed that, the welfare committee was able to raise money to purchase the foodstuff for the people.

"We actually got the relief package from the state government this morning, we got two bags of 5kg food stuff for the whole of the community. And we have 800 households. We couldn't fathom a way out to share the relief package, that's why, we quickly set up a welfare committee among ourselves and individual contributions has been able to yield fruitful result to add to what the government has brought to us.

"The community has been able to raise money within the few hours, and we have been able to raise money to buy two bags of 50kg rice and four cartoons of noodles to be shared among the aged, pensioners, widows, and the sick in about 49 houses.
