ABEOKUTA - A call has gone to Nigerian women to brace up for more challenge to be politically recognized and given equal sharing like their male counterpart.

A member, representing Yewa South State Constituency at the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Bolanle Ajayi made this call at the weekend in Ilaro while distributing relief materials to members of her constituency.

Hon. Ajayi who called for more women participation in politics, lamented the small number of women in politics which according to her negates the Beijing Conference agreement.

The lawmaker stressed that, she had introduced a bill calling for more participation of women in appointment of positions in the state on the floor of the Assembly.

She said, "I have introduced a bill in the house calling for more participation of women in the appointment positions in Ogun state to be at 50-50 level or most, 60% for men and 40% for women".

She further stated that the state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has equally responded to the bill with a promise to give more positions to women in his administration.

Meanwhile, as part of her efforts to complement the state government activities towards taking care of the needy during Covid-19 lockdown in the state, Hon. Bolanle Ajayi had distributed relief materials to members of her constituency in Yewa South LG area of Ogun state.

Hon. Ajayi disclosed that, due to the imbalance in the level of economic development in Ogun West area, it would be very difficult for the aged and the poor to come to terms with the hardship that comes with the total lockdown as pronounced on the state by President Muhammadu Buhari.
