ABEOKUTA - The Baba Adeen of Egbaland, Chief Rasheed Raji has told the Owu community that the visit of the new Imam of Egbaland to all the four sections of Egbaland was to further unify various communities in Egbaland towards having a common destiny.
Speaking at the presentation of the new Chief Imam of Egbaland, Sheikh Sa’ad Bamigbola, Chief Raji disclosed that although the selection of the new Egba Chief Imam was about a month ago after the demise of the immediate past one, it was a most consensus and all inclusive exercise in recent times by all the sections as stakeholders in Egbaland.
He explained that it was in a consolidation of the new scenario that the entire Egba Muslim leadership, both the Clerics, Ologun Chiefs, and the laity to formally demonstrate unity and cohesion in the entire Egba Muslim Community by official presentation of the Egba Muslim spiritual leader to the Olowu in Council and the Owu Patriots in general.
He thanked the Balogun of Owu, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, who, inspite of his local and international tight schedule, still found time attend and to personally lead the Owu Community to receive the new Chief Imam and spiritual head of Egba Muslims at the Owu Palace.
The entourage of Egba High Chiefs led by the BabaAdeen of Egbaland, Chief Rasheed Raji, included the Taiyese of Egbaland, Alhaji Ismail Epemolu, Ahaji Isiak Goke Okedairo, Lukotun of Egbaland, Alhaji Nojeem Adekunle, Aare Ago Muslumi Oke Ona, the Aare Baaroyin, Chief Layi Labode among others.
The Egba Muslim Clerics at the occasion included Alhaji Taofeek Amolegbe, the Mufasir of Egbaland; Alhaji Sherif Abiodun, Bada Muslumi Egba; Ahaji Daudu Afuape, the Olori Ratibi of Egbaland; Sheikh Mufasir Alawuye, Khadai Islam of Egbaland; Alhaji Musiliu Nosir, Imam of Oke Ona; Prof. Kamar Balogun, Imam of Gbagura; Alhaji Suleiman A. Kehinde, Imam of Owu, and others.
The Owu High Chiefs present at the event were the Balogun of Owu, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo; the Eekerin and Sultan of Owu, Chief M. Ola Yusuf; Chief Isola Akinsipo, the Akogun of TV; the Seriki of Owu, Prof. Ajayi Adelekan; Chief Doja Adewole, the Otun of Owu; Chief Niyi Adegbenro, the Osi of Owu; Chief Akin Akande, the Aare Ago of Owu; and the Otun Iyalode, Chief (Mrs) M. Obimakinde.
