NGO Donates Medical Equipment To Ogun Primary Health Centre

ABEOKUTA - A Non-governmental organization, Gardner's Social Impact Initiative on Wednesday donated a set of hospital equipment consisting of Anti Shock Garment, Wheel Chair, Autoclave and Oxygen Concentrator Machines and Delivery Bed Ogun state government. 

The NGO said, the gesture was towards improving the Primary Health Care service delivery alongside maternal and child health in the state.

Receiving the donations at Primary Health Center, Sango Ota, the Deputy Governor Engr. Noimot Salako- Oyedele represented by Senior Special Assistant,  Deputy Governors Office, Hon. Kola Salako appreciated the foundation for its supports towards complementing the efforts of the Prince Dapo Abiodun led administration at uplifting the health care system in the state especially at the grassroot level, noting  that it would to a large extent, improve service delivery within the axis.

He added that the present administration was committed to ensuring easy access to qualitative health care at the grassroot level, which he said would help to reduce the congestion at the secondary and tertiary health posts.

"It is the belief of this government that if the grassroot people have easy access to qualitative health at the grassroot, the kind of congestion we have at the secondary and tertiary health posts will diminish, that is why the government is doing so much to improve primary health care", he said.

Hon Salako who also made a donation of an automated hand washing equipment to the primary health center on behalf of the Deputy Governor Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele said the gesture became imperative in order to curb the spread of the diseases through regular hand washing particularly during this Covid 19 pandemic period. 

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker, represented by the Executive Secretary, Primary Health Care Development Board, Dr. Elijah Ogunsola commended the donors for deeming it fit to give back to the society,  promising that the equipment would be put to good use which in turn would translate to the overall wellbeing of women and children in the state.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman, Transition Committee, Ado- Odo Ota Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Lawal  appreciated the state government for the ongoing renovations of Primary health centers across  the state, saying it was a clear display of it's commitment to improving the overall welfare of the people.

In appreciation, the Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA) Ado-Odo Ota Local Government, Dr. Daniel Adesanya said that the donations would be put to good use, urging other well meaning individuals and organisations to emulate the gesture in developing the health sector of the state.
