School Project: Soyombo Charges Engineers On Quality Service, Inspects Projects

ABEOKUTA - Engineers monitoring on-going projects in schools across Ogun State have been enjoined to ensure that contractors handling various construction deliver to time and standard.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Primary and Secondary Education, Mrs. Ronke Soyombo gave the charge during a meeting with engineers under the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), at the Governor's Office Press Centre, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

Mrs. Soyombo while highlighting the scope of their assignments to include; assessment and monitoring of government projects, as well as ensuring that contractors make use of quality materials that will stand the test of time, reiterated that they must be abreast of situation regarding projects in their areas and not leaving out the principals and head teachers of concerned schools.

"The safety of the students must be put into consideration while building, we must work together to achieve great success. You are expected to avail us of all the schools in your care, which ones have we finished and those we still need to work on, all these data must be made available for transparency", she noted.

The Special Adviser appreciated the engineers and other stakeholders for their efforts since the inception of the projects, attributing achievement made so far to their effectiveness, advising them not relent in giving their best to the projects.

She advised community leaders to cooperate with the contractors and engineers for easy access to the schools in their localities, saying with their support, the “Building our Future Together” agenda of Governor Dapo Abiodun would be achieved.

In his remark, SUBEB Board Secretary, Mr. Olalekan Kuye, said the purpose of the meeting was to intimate the engineers of their roles regarding the projects, in order to ensure excellent service delivery.

Responding on behalf of the engineers, Mr. Gabriel Obadiluwa and Engineer Akeem Adeboyejo appreciated the present administration for the opportunity given them to serve, promising that they would strive to ensure better job was delivered, just as they called on government to look into some of their challenges.

 

 

Meanwhile, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Primary and Secondary Education, Mrs. Ronke Soyombo made an inspection to some of the schools’ project in Abeokuta, saying to further ensure safety of students, no substandard products would be allowed in the building and reconstruction of ongoing schools project across the State.

Soyombo pointed out that it was imperative for contractors handling the projects to work according to specifications, this she noted would guarantee standard.

Schools visited included, Abeokuta North Local Government, Ilugun Asalu where an E-Library project is in Progress, St. Anne's (RCM) primary school, Ibara, Rev. Kuti primary school, Isabo amongst others.
