ABEOKUTA - Following its failure to set up Electoral Committee for the forthcoming election of the chapel, Ogun State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) on Wednesday dissolved Comrade Wole Dosunmu leadership of State Ministry of Information Chapel after expiration of its tenure.
The dissolution was approved by the State Working Committee of NUJ after series of advice in several correspondences dated 11th May and 15th June, 2020.
According to a statement from the State Council of NUJ, the dissolved executives had continued to disregard the resolution of the Central Working Committee (CWC) of the union of May 7, 2019 after the annulment of March 29, 2019 State Council election.
The statement jointly signed by the State Caretaker Chairman, Mrs. Omolola Adeyinka and Secretary, Wale Oluokun said the trio of Kayode Oduyebo, Rufai Oluwaseun and Yemisi Onanuga have been appointed as Caretaker / Credential Screening Committee to run the affairs of the chapel and conduct fresh election of a new leadership within the next 30days.
The CWC therefore, directed the dissolved executives of the chapel to hand over property of the union in their care to the Caretaker/Credentials Committee to facilitate a free and fair electoral process for the chapel.
The Union however, advised the electoral committee to protect the rights of every aspirant in the aborted chapel elections and follow the electoral guidelines clearly stated in the NUJ constitution and as well liase with the state council in line with article 6 (6).
