Three Fedpoly Ilaro Lecturers Under Probe For Alleged Cultism Involvement - INVESTIGATION

ABEOKUTA - Three lecturers from the department of banking and finance of Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro may loose their job following their alleged involvement in cultism related activities, investigation by THE ENCOUNTER NEWS has revealed.

An inside source who confided in our reporter hinted that, the investigative panel set up by the school management to probe the involvement of some lecturers during the last SUG election of the polytechnic found the three lecturers guilty of using their offices to pervert the exercise. 

The lecturers (name withheld) were said to have harassed and physically assaulted some members of the screening committee in favour of a particular candidate who was earlier disqualified in the election. 

The source said the report would be submitted to the School's governing council for ratification at their next meeting scheduled for this month. 

It would be recalled that the polytechnic had been in crisis since February this year following the arrest of the SUG President, Adegboye Emmanuel Olatunji and his subsequent suspension from the school. 

This development led to a face-off between the school management, members of the Academic Staff Union of the Polytechnic and National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) who are sympathetic to the suspended Student Union President. 

Olatunji accused the rector of the polytechnic, Arc. Olusegun Aluko of orchestrating his arrest, while the rector has absolved himself from all accusations. 

Olatunji who had dragged the polytechnic management before the state High Court for 'erroneously' suspended him from the school, was on Friday reinstated by the school management after the intervention of Ogun state government.
