Ensure Peace, Stability In Ogun NUJ, Ambassador-Designate Ishola Urges Journalists

ABEOKUTA - Members of the fourth estate of the realm in Ogun state have been urged to embrace peace and tranquility for stability of the union in the state. 

The Patron and Fellow, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun state council, Alhaji Sarafa Tunji Ishola made this call on Monday while playing host to the new executive of Federated Chapel of Ogun NUJ at his residence in Abeokuta. 

Ishola who was recently appointed Ambassador-Designate by President Muhammadu Buhari said journalists who are supposed to be model to the society should not be seen enmeshed in political crisis. 

The Ambassador-Designate maintained that, it was greed and impatience among group of people that caused division, calling on the leadership of the union in the state to find a lasting solution to the crisis rocking the union, saying there is no conflict without peaceful resolution. 

Ishola who said he was ready to mediate between the warring factions as NUJ patron, urged members of the union in the state to set aside their differences for the progress of the union. 

"There is no conflict without peaceful resolution. There's no alternative to peace. Without peace there cannot be progress. I have been an apostle of peace. 

"I am ready for whatever we can do to make peace. Don't be too sure when you have a case in court. What I'm saying is that crisis and conflict are normal in every human endeavors.

"We should look for peace in Ogun NUJ. Go back to the bottom and allow fairness, equity in both side. From today, start thinking of how to make peace terms."

He therefore congratulated the new leadership of the Federated Chapel led by Comrade Abu Satar Hamed, urging them to always work towards welfare of their members.

Earlier, the Chairman, Ogun NUJ Federated Chapel, Comrade Abu Satar Hamed congratulated Alhaji Sarafa Tunji Ishola on his new appointment by President Muhammadu Buhari as Ambassador-Designate.

Abu Satar described Ishola's appointment as a result of his loyalty and track record as a seasoned politician and administrator. 

He expressed confidence that, the Ambassador-Designate would through mutual efforts strengthened the multi-dimensional Nigeria relations for the benefit of the people and in the interest of stability and security of the nation.
