Ogun FA Seeks Sports Writers Support For Football Devt

ABEOKUTA - Chairman, Ogun State Football Association, Alhaji Ganiyu Majekodunmi has called for the support of Sports Writers in the state towards ensuring sports development and progress of the association. 


Majekodunmi who is also Executive member of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) said as partners in progress, promotion of all football related activities in the state would further enhance the reputation of the state at national events.


He stated this on Thursday when the new executive members of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Ogun State Chapter paid him a courtesy visit.


The FA boss therefore assured the Sports writers of his support at ensuring SWAN members in the state partake at every football event organize by NFF. 


He however, expressed confidence in the new SWAN executives led by Hakeem Akintunde, urging all members of the association to support the new exco. 


Majekodunmi thanked Governor Abiodun for assenting the Sports Trust Bill and support to the state FA.


"We are partners in progress and with the new leadership of SWAN in the state, I don't have doubt in my mind the next three years in sports writing in Ogun state will be exceptional. 


"I will just implore you to continue rendering assistance to us. If there is a way to assist SWAN let us know. But bear in mind that, as executive member of NFF, I will ensure members of Ogun SWAN are not left out of the national assignments. And we will always consult SWAN for whatever we want to do in Ogun state."


In his response, the SWAN Chairman, Hakeem Akintunde commended the Football Association in the state for hosting various football development programmes. 


He therefore urged NFF to disburse the $30,000 dollars of the CAF/FIFA Covid-19 palliative for SWAN to each state chapter and reserve the national secretariat share until the national SWAN crisis is resolved.
