Abiodun Imposes Curfew In Ogun For Independence Day Celebration


ABEOKUTA– The Ogun state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has announced a partial curfew in the state as part of its safety measures to ensure the 60th Independence anniversary of the country is celebrated in an atmosphere of peace and security.


Abiodun, in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Kunle Somorin, there would be curfew daily for two days from the hour of 10pm to 6am on Thursday, 30th September, and Friday, 2nd October, 2020.


The statement further states that there would be restriction of operations of commercial motorcycle riders, popularly called Okada, from all major roads in the state for the two days indicated.


It however grants waiver for taxi cabs to operate within the hours outside the daily curfew period, adding that the number of passengers remains limited to a maximum of three only.


The state government also reminded all owners and operators of hotels, suites guest houses, motels, and such establishments providing accommodation that the restriction on their operations has not been lifted.


The governor therefore mandate the Police, military and all security agencies to enforce these measures, while assuring of his administration’s committed to secure the lives and property before, during and after the 60th Independence Anniversary in the State.
