Aerofield Boss Commends Ogun Governor's Low Cost Housing Initiative

ABEOKUTA - Aerofield Homes and Properties boss, Mr Armstrong Akintunde Temitope has lauded the governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun for his committment towards solving the housing problem with the two ongoing housing projects at Kemta, Abeokuta and Oke Mosan, Abeokuta.

Armstrong revealed that this move by Gov Abiodun would go a long way to reduce problem of housing deficit and make life more meaningful for many residents of the state.

He has however said that with strategic partnership with both the federal and the state government, real estate firms could help solve the problem of mass housing for Nigerians.

Armstrong, a fast rising real estate expert disclosed this in a chat with our Correspondent.

He explained that one of the major challenges confronting many Nigerians aside unemployment is the problem of shelter.

Armstrong revealed further that government in the past understood this challenge very well and invested hugely in low cost housing for low income earners but this he said the government might have now considered very burdensome due to factors such as the rising population, dwindling resources, rise in cost of building among additional challenges of governance.

He stated that government can however enter into partnership with many genuine real estate developers who will build these low cost housing while government provides land among other technical support as the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed might dictated.

Armstrong said "government already have more than what it could handle, the challenges are piling up everyday and that's why Public Private Private (PPP) is the way to go to take off some burden off the government and even do it better.

"The government would only ensure that the housing projects are of standard and given out at reasonable prices. The mode of payment would have also been determined such that mortgage is involved and the payment is done with ease".

He revealed further that Nigerians earning between #20,000 to #100,000 will really fiind it pretty difficult except by miracle to own a home of their choice with the ever increasing cost of living, education, transportation, health and feeding among others.

"Besides, the cost of building materials is daily increasing. The only way this class of people could own homes is by cooperative arrangements, other self help projects or by governments supports in line with what Governor Abiodun is doing now in the form of mortgage or some form of allocations and the costs are deducted from their salaries. Aerofield Homes and Properties would always been willing to partner with the government in this area".

He revealed that Aerofield Homes remained committed to providing the best and affordable housing needs for Nigerians while prices on their lands, buildings among others are quite reasonable and pocket-friendly.
