ABEOKUTA - As Nigeria attains her 60years of existence, a renowned clergyman in Ogun state, Apostle Lawrence Achudume has called for intensified prayers among Nigerians, cautioning those calling for break-up of the country to have a rethink.
Apostle Achudume in his Independence Day message in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital on Wednesday urged the promoters of dividing the country to jettison such negative thoughts, stressing that in unity and togetherness, lies the country's strength.
Achudume while congratulating Nigerians, advised those in positions of authority to use the ocassion of the 60th anniversary to chart a new course for the country, stressing that together, the dream of having a strong, united and prosperous nation, as envisioned by the Nigeria's founding fathers would be achieved.
The soft-spoken clergyman however, advised members of the political class to be nationalistic in their day-to-day undertakings for the nation to progress.
The Senior Pastor of the Victory Life Bible Church (VLBC) International, explained that the problems currently plaguing the country are not insurmountable if the citizens seek the face of God and ask for his divine intervention.
The Apostle noted that, God has indeed been magnanimous, pointing out that despite the raging storms, divine guidance has kept Nigerians strong and united.
Apostle Achudume who lauded the contributions of the youths to nation building, charged them to keep the faith and continue to make meaningful contributions to national growth and development.
He therefore opined that, the country would get over its multifaceted challenges such as kidnapping, banditry, insurgency, if the security apparatus function optimally.
He called on the citizens, to trust and accommodate one and other, be patriotic as well as remain a united entity.
