ABEOKUTA - The Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Architect Lekan Adegbite has explained that, the absence of Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun from the state prevented him from meeting the Governor during his visit to the state.

Adegbite disclosed this on Friday while addressing journalists and Mines Workers union in the state at the NUJ press centre, Iwe-Irohin House, Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta.

The Minister said, although, his ministry had earlier paid a courtesy visit to the Governor led by the Minister of State For Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Uchechukwu Ogah to show the relationship that existed between the state and his ministry.

He however said, since the governor was not in the state, there was no need to visit the governor's office.

"My Ministry had earlier paid a courtesy visit to the Governor, unfortunately, I couldn't make it. My Minister of State did that. So, we have actually done a visit on the Governor. But since the governor was not around this time, I thought it was necessary to interact directly with the people.

"Same thing with Lagos yesterday, I  started from Lagos and I went to Oyo. Because I've done a courtesy visit to the Governor of Lagos State sometimes in January, yesterday we just went straight to the town, we did not see the Governor. So, it is the same thing that has happened here. There was a courtesy visit to the Governor earlier this year by the Ministry."
