Cultism: Old Students Call For Strengthening Of Parent-Teachers Relationship

ABEOKUTA - Worried by the increasing rising of cult clashes across secondary schools in Ogun state, the old students of African Church Grammar School, Abeokuta Club 917 set has called on the state government to bridge the gap of communication between parents and teachers through regular meetings.

The old students opined that, the vacuum in the communication channel among the key stakeholders has created lacuna which responsible for the uprising in the secondary schools.

The President of the Club 917 set, Mr. Gbenga Ogundipe stated this on Wednesday at the distribution of notebooks and other writing materials to the both junior and senior students of African Church Grammar School, Ita-Iyalode, Abeokuta. 

Ogundipe also called on the state government to collaborate with local security organizations to checkmate security threats among the secondary schools.

"There are lots of suggestions, but government need to strengthen the PTA association of each school. There should be regular meeting where the parents and teachers will meet and pass information around to the parents. 

"This will also enhance monitoring of the students both home and school. The government should also improve the security around the school. The government should make sure the entrance to the school are well secure, this will deter the students from involving in social vices."

The old students therefore donated about 3,000 writing materials the students as part of their contribution to the school. 

The First Vice President of the group, Akinyele Ogunpola said the essence of donating the writing materials was to encourage the students to study hard. 

Ogunpola however assured to provide more incentives to the students in no distant future. 

While thanking the Old Students for the gesture, the Head Boy of the school, Abdulazeem Popoola urged the old students to always improve the welfare of their teachers as they are their pathfinders to success.
