Ogun Commissioner for Housing, Mr. Jagunmolu Akande |
ABEOKUTA - Following the misuse of picture of Ogun state Commissioner for Housing, Mr. Jagunmolu Akande Omoniyi in the sexual harassment saga of his Environment ministry counterpart, Abiodun Abudu-Balogun, the Yewa North Patriotic Forum has appealed to the media houses to make amendment to the photograph error.
The forum in a press statement signed by its President, Omobolaji Oluwafisayomi Sanni, said Jagunmolu from Yewa origin would never harrass anyone sexually especially under age girls.
They said Yewa people are well cultured and nurtured Yoruba sons and daughters who will never be involved in ungodly act.
They appealed to the media houses who have been mistaking the picture of the Commissioner for Housing for that of the embattled Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Abiodun Abudu-Balogun who was enmeshed in an alleged sexual scandal to make amendment immediately.
THE ENCOUNTER NEWS reports that, the Ogun state Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Abiodun Abudu-Balogun was last week accused for sexual harassment by a 16year-old girl, Barakat Melojueku Mayowa.
Although, the accused had since denied the allegation, but the state government on Sunday suspended the Commissioner to allow for independent investigation.
However, the Yewa North Patriotic Forum stressed further that, it won't be drawing any form of battle until the outcome of the investigation is made public.
"In the viral video, the girl accused Hon. Abudu-Balogun of sexual harassment and in details mentioned names of people who have in one way or the other meddled into the matter.
"As a responsible and responsive youths association who react to issues objectively devoid of religion, ethnicity, gender, tribe and geographical location, we called for a discrete investigation into the matter as until this is done the truth might not be unraveled.
"As an Omoluabi that we are known for in Yewa area of the State, we won’t be drawing any form of battle until the outcome of the investigation is made public.
"Much as we hailed the proactiveness of the government by suspending the Commissioner to preserve the exalted office and for a discrete investigation, we also appeal for an unbiased independent investigation by the concerned authority, as we are watching more than you can ever imagine.
"We are ready to get involved in the investigation with every string we can pull. This is to ensure we join the quest to make our society save for all.
"However, We would immediately commence an independent investigation to unravel the truth about what happens.
"At the end of our investigation, we shall compare notes with the police and make our position public even if it would warrant that we drag the Commissioner to court.
"Meanwhile, we appeal to media houses who have been mistaking the picture of the Commissioner for Housing, Jagunmolu Akande Omoniyi, for that of the embattled Commissioner to please make amends as our own Son is not involved in such and will never be involved in such an unGodly act as we pride ourselves as (Ojulowo Omoluabi) Cultured and well nurtured Yoruba sons and daughters."
