ABEOKUTA - The only opposition lawmaker in the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Abiodun Sylvester has said any attempt by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to bring him into the party would not be accepted now as consultation still in progress.
The Lawmaker revealed that he believes in oneness and government of inclusiveness but consultation still on either to join the ruling APC or not.
Hon. Sylvester representing Ijebu North 1 on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) hinted that there are several calls from different quarters to join the ruling APC explaining that coming to APC is just like coming back home because he was once a member of ACN in 2003.
The lawmaker disclosed this on Tuesday in a telephone chat with our reporter.
It would be recalled that three members of the Ogun House of Assembly from African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Tuesday, defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The lawmakers announced their defection in separate letters read by the Speaker of the Assembly, Mr Olakunle Oluomo (APC–Ifo1), during a plenary in Abeokuta.
While addressing journalists shortly after the three lawmakers defection, Hon Sylvester explained that he remain in PDP and if there is need for him to join another party, it would be communicated later but he can not talk about joining APC.
According to him "Even if I am ready to join any political party, I still need to consult my political leaders in the state and to let my constituents know about my next step of action, don't forget they are the one I represent, so they need to be carried along with any step I take.
"I want you to know that it's not only APC in the state, though it's a ruling party but we still have other parties, but for now I am still in PDP.
"Though, lots of consultation has been made to me, in fact I have attended different meetings and I must say the truth, APC really want me to join but I am still declining them."
