YENAGOA – Ijaw youths, under the umbrella of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), have given the Federal Government a one-month ultimatum to constitute and inaugurate a substantive board for the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
National President of IYC, Peter Igbifa, disclosed this on Sunday evening during an interview with journalists in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital.
According to him, the decision was reached during the council’s expanded executive and stakeholders’ meetings held at the Hotel Presidential, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Sunday.
The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, was reported to have extended the tenure of the NDDC Interim Administrator, Effiong Akwa and also shifted the constitution of the agency’s board to July after failing to do so in April, which he had earlier promised.
