The students however, urged the Governor to deploy the Amotekun Corps to all tertiary institutions in the state and students communities.

"The teeming leadership of The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Ogun Joint Campus Committee, suitably led by Comrade Damilola Simeon Kehinde, also known as Da Osmos unequivocally applaud the recent inauguration of the South West Security Network also known as the Àmọ̀tẹ́kùn Corps.

"We are completely optimistic that this will greatly increase the security and safety of the average Nigerian Students and indeed the general public.

"It must be recalled that NANS OGUN JCC have called for the operation commencement of the Security network following spates of kidnappings  in the Students' Constituency.

"It is thus a pleasant development seeing the official flagging off of the Àmọ̀tẹ́kùn Corps' activities.

"This is indeed an evidence that the voice of the Nigerian Students is being reckoned with by the State government.

"However, we urge that Àmọ̀tẹ́kùn Corps under the command of Rtd. CP. David Akinremi be promptly deployed to our Academic institutions and Students' Communities.

"This is pertinent so as to bolster the efforts of security agents currently posted there and nip crimes in the bud.

"We enjoin our Students and the General public to cooperate with the Corps members and provide a conducive environment for them to discharge their duties.

"In the same vein, we admonish the Corps member to carry out their assignments with integrity and without fear or favour.

"The National Association of Nigerian Students, Ogun Axis will always be at the forefront in safeguarding the rights and interests of all Students in the Gateway state and also readily synergize with the State Government and other necessary bodies in achieving this."
