LAGOS - The Executive Chairman of Ojokoro Local Council Development Area, Hon. Hammed Idowu D. Tijani (HID), has congratulated the people of Ojokoro for the success recorded at the just concluded second edition of the annual Ojokoro festival.
The festival is meant to promote the cultural heritage and arts of the good people of Ojokoro land.
The 4 days cultural event commenced on Thursday, 1st April, 2021, with inter-religious prayers where Christians, Moslems and traditionalists prayed for peaceful coexistence of the people in Ojokoro Local Council Development Area.
Also, various kinds of traditional games were played on Friday, as different cultural displays took place on Saturday, with the grand finale witnessed by various dignitaries, held on Sunday, 4th April.
The Council boss, Hon. Hammed Tijani, was ably represented at the grand finale by his Special Adviser on Chieftaincy, Culture and Boundary Matters, Hon. Jamiu Odebiyi.
In an address delivered on behalf of the Council Chairman, Hon. Odebiyi commended the initiative of the organizers and specially felicitated with the paramount ruler of Ojokoro land, Oba Rilwan Oluwalambe Taiwo, his Chiefs and the people of Ojokoro for the well organized and colourful festival.
"I must congratulate and commend the organizers of this festival for a job well done"
"We are very much impressed with what we have seen here today, as this clearly shows that the logistics and moral support which our administration has been giving to promote our cultural heritage and tradition in Ojokoro land are judicious utilised", he said.
While reiterating his administration's continuous support to the development of the culture and tradition of the people irrespective of the conditions, he also assured that government will continue to ensure comfortability of the people.
Oba Rilwan Oluwalambe Taiwo thanked God and appreciated Hon. Tijani's administration for putting Ojokoro in the limelight, considering the level of development being witnessed in the land since he was crowned as the only first class king and paramount ruler of Ojokoro kingdom and the neighbouring communities.
It would be recalled that the annual Ojokoro festival began in year 2019, but could not hold in year 2020, due to the outbreak of the global COVID-19 pandemic.
