Akinwande Enjoins INEC To Share 1,832 Additional Polling Units Equally

ABEOKUTA - One of the leading leaders in Ogun West Senatorial District,  Engr. Gbenga Akinwande has appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ogun state to ensure fairness, equity, and justice in the allocation of newly created polling units in Ogun state.

Akinwande who is the President, Gbenga Akinwande Foundation in a letter addressed to the state INEC Commissioner, Professor Abdulganiy Raji, noted that, "Over the years, Ogun West, which has about one-third of  state's population and biggest land mass has been shortchanged electorally with fewer allocations of polling units."

The politician maintained that, Ogun West which currently has about 918 polling units, out of the 3203 in the state, representing 28.7% of the total electoral polling units in Ogun state should be considered most in the sharing formula.

He stated that it would be appreciated if the newly created additional 1,832 polling units in Ogun state is shared equally among the three senatorial districts, so as to redress the  worsening political misfortunes of Ogun West.

He further appealed to the commission to apply fairness, equity and justice as  the core determinant factors in carrying out this important assignment so that the people of Ogun West can as well feel true and equal franchise like the other zones in the state.
