ABEOKUTA -  Following his track record as the Transition Committee Chairman of Abeokuta South local government, six of the eight chairmanship aspirants in the Local Government under the umbrella of the All Progressive Congress (APC), have declared their support for Hon. Ayodeji Michael Shomide.

The six aspirants in a communique signed on Monday in Abeokuta after a strategic meeting unanimously agreed and endorsed Hon. Shomide as the party's consensus candidate for the forthcoming local government election in the state.

The aspirants; Hon. Adedayo Okanlanwan Akintoye, Hon. Muisi Oladehinde Omitogun, Hon. Olujimi Adekunle, Hon. Damilare Olumide Tosin, Hon. Toyosi Abdulquasin Enilolobo, and Hon. Mustapha Kodaolu Olajide said their decision was informed by the lack of confidence in the selection process by the leaders of the party in the local government.

They however, disassociated themselves from any purported nomination of groups within the party in the Local Government.

"We have unanimously agreed and endorsed Hon. Ayodeji Michael Shomide as our party  consensus candidate (APC) for the office of the chairman, Abeokuta South local government for the forthcoming local government election.

"Our purpose of endorsement is
because we lost confidence in the process the leaders in the local government adopted in their  selection.

"We hereby disassociate ourselves from the purported nomination of groups within the party in our local government."
