Nigeria Export Promotion Council (NEPC) has organized a workshop To Build Capacity For Stakeholders towards the implementation of the One State One Product initiative.
The workshop was held at DLK event center Abeokuta, Ogun state capital.
One-State One Product (OSOP) is aimed at driving the implementation of the zero oil plan and also to ensure that each state of the federation focuses on at least one product to develop for export.
Ogun State being the leading Cassava producer in Nigeria specified Cassava and Cashew as its main and alternate products respectively.
Highlights of the event include Presentation of a Technical Paper titled “The Role of the State Government in the Implementation of One State, One Product: Challenges and Success Story in Ogun State”.
The Government through the Ministry of Agriculture and Ogun State Agricultural Development Programme (OGADEP) is in partnership with relevant Institutions such as International Fund For Agriculture Development (IFAD), Value Chain Development Programme (VCDP), International Fund For Tropical Agriculture, (IITA) to ensure the efficient execution of the non- oil plan export promotion activities having linked thousands of farmers to input such as land, credit, service providers, off-takers and exportation.
In attendance were officials from the Ministry of Agriculture which included the Permanent Secretary, Ogun State Ministry of Agriculture, Dr. Dotun Sorunke; Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, Alhaji Fashola.
Other Dignitaries at the event were, the Executive Director/CEO, NEPC Mr. Segun Awolowo ably represented by Mr. Idowu Samson, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr. Olu Aikulola, Representatives from Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Representatives of Research Institutes such as Cocoa, Research Institute of Nigeria, (CRIN), Representatives from International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Non Governmental Organisations, Farmers Organization which include Cassava Growers Association and Cashew Growers Association, Input Agencies, Agro-Allied Companies, Farmers and other stakeholders
