Ogun LG Poll: Why We Stepped Down For Shomide - Akintoye, Seven Others


ABEOKUTA - One of the leading Chairmanship aspirants in Abeokuta South local government area of Ogun state under All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Adedayo Akintoye popularly known as D1 has revealed that, he stepped down for the Transition Committee Chairman of Abeokuta South local government, Hon. Ayodeji Shomide for unity of purpose. 


D1 explained that, himself and seven others decided to step down for Shomide due to his outstanding performance as Caretaker Chairman in the last 18months.


He noted that, the aspirants were said to have met and resolved to team up with Shomide, who is said to be interested to contest for the seat, for him to become an elected chairman.


Akintoye further stressed that, they withdrew from the primaries for Shomide to serve as purpose of unity, and to avoid divided house ahead of the general election.


He said the pact, was necessary to give good fight to the most relevant opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), at the forthcoming poll, stressing that it was necessary for the ruling party to go out as a one family.


He maintained that, the decision was done in good faith, and to ensure the party is victorious at the poll.
