Gateway United Record Historic Massive Win To Lift Ogun FA Cup

ABEOKUTA  - Gateway United Football Club of Ogun State on Monday recorded a massive win against debuntant and NLO side, Easywell FC to win the 2021 Ogun FA Cup final.

The Ogun State owned football team took advantage of the inexperienced Sagamu side in the first 60 second of the encounter when Michael Okolo scores from the spot kick to give the home team the lead.

Gateway maintained the lead in the 37mins before the break of half time when Michael Okolo scores a brilliant 25yard free kick to make the score line 2-0.

Just as they finished the first half, it took the team two minutes into the second to score a third as Iwundu Chidozie rose highest to nod in a corner.

13 minutes later, Haruna Salifu got on the score sheet when he nodded home brilliantly off Okoro Obinna's cross.

With the scoreline looking comfortable and the trophy sealed, the players enjoyed more of the possession as they kept Easywell FC at bay.

There was still time for a late chance when substitute Muhammed Muhammed tried a long effort from the midfield as Saludeem Lukmon scampered to gather the ball.

Reacting to the team win, Coach Hakeem Busari commended the players for their fighting spirit and good display.

Busari noted that, winning the final was not easy but assured to build on the performance as they go into the Challenge Cup knockout stage.

"Easy well is one of the good  team in as much as the game is all about FA. FA doesn't have respect for any team. Any team can come from anywhere and beat the bigger team. For this year,  I think it's a very tough game. It wasn't easy, but we got it right from the beginning and we got to the final.

"For FA Cup is a very big market value for any team which is representing the state. For us,  we are improving game by game and with the logistics available we believe we can go far in the challenge cup."
