ABEOKUTA - The Ogun State Joint Task Force Set up by the Ogun State Police Command with other security agencies to clamp down on the riders of such unregistered motorcycles on Wednesday impounded no fewer than 70 motorcycles.
The Joint Task Force was set up as a result of the involvement of riders of unregistered motorcycles in disorderly behavior and wanton destruction of properties by okada in the state.
The operation, which commenced on Wednesday in Abeokuta metropolis, according to Ogun Police Command spokesperson, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi will be extended to other parts of the state in the coming weeks.The impounded motorcycles, he added, will not be released until the owner of such motorcycle provided evidence of its registration, and the number plate which must be fixed on the motorcycle.
Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Edward Awolowo Ajogun has commended the task force for the professional manner in which they carried out the operation.
He also commended the leadership of Okada riders association for their supportive role and assured them that the operation is going to be a continuous exercise.
