My aspiration is to become Police IG, Says Ogun PPRO

 

The Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Police Command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, has said every policemen aspires to become the Inspector-General of Police.

While speaking exclusively with The Encounter News, Oyeyemi said his aspiration is also to become the number one police officer in Nigeria.

The police image-maker also maintained that the concept of community policing, if properly managed, could assist tackle myriads of security challenges confronting the nation.

He opined that security should be everybody's business and not the exclusive preserve of the security agencies.

"If everybody can make up their mind that anybody that is kidnap nobody is going to pay ransom, within very short period of time they will be thrown out of business, they won't do it again" the PPRO said.

Abimbola noted that the officers' morale was down during the EndSARS protest orchestrated by criminally-minded individuals, losing many gadgets and even police officers but the command has put that behind and rose up to duty.

"The various commissioners of police in various states have gone to all the police commission to raise the morale of the policemen to tell them that it's one of those things that use to happen, while you are still alive, while you're still working, so you are bound to experience one or two things in the course of your duty.

"And we have counted those things as one of those that it's part of our experience, now we have put that behind us and we've continue our duty as usual" he stressed.

The award-winning police officer however commended the effort of the media in relaying qualitative and timely information to the members of the society.
