ABEOKUTA - The leadership of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Ogun Axis and National Association of Ogun State Students (NAOSS) have commended Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State for approving the candidature of Comrade Shuaib Ladejobi as APC chairmanship flagbearer for Odogbolu Local Government for the forthcoming council election in the state.
The students, led by NAOSS National Secretary, Comrade Adebowale Gafar while addressing journalists in Abeokuta on Wednesday commended the governor for living up to his youths inclusiveness in his government.
They however, reiterated that, Comrade Shuaib Ladejobi is a promising Nigerian youth with lots of passion for his people and will definitely live to expectations.
According to them, against all odds, governor Abiodun has chosen to stand by the youths, describing the decision as “a massive step in the right direction”.
"Against all odds, His Excellency has chosen to stand by the youths and Students Constituency by endorsing a Students leader from Olabisi Onabanjo University to be the party's flagbearer in the forthcoming Local government election” he added.
"This singular act will give our youths hope in the future ahead.
"The appreciation from the duo of NANS Ogun Chairman and NAOSS National President was due to the decision to give Comrade Shuaib Ladejo who is a Students leader in his 30s, the Chairmanship ticket of Odogbolu Local government, we are however, confidently inspired by the transparent process by the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC) in conducting a free and fair local government election which will serve as model for National election.
"We urge Governor Dapo Abiodun not to rest on his oars in delivery the dividends of democracy to the people of the state.
"On the issue if bursary, it gladdens our hearts to say that the decision of the Governor to pay bursary to Ogun State students is a kind gesture that will never be forgotten quickly. This is more so as the last time students of our dear state enjoyed such benevolence was over 8 years ago.
"However, we appeal to the Governor to ensure even distribution of the money so that the payment would be made to the right and appropriate quarters. All we demand for is open and transparent distribution of the money."
