'Ogun Youth In Community' Organizes Vocational Training On Nylon Production, Bag Making In Abeokuta North

 

The Ogun Youth in Community Development Committee has organized vocational training for the youths in Abeokuta North Urban Area.

The Youth in Community Development Committee said it embarked on the vocational skills acquisition programme for the youths in order to reduce unemployment and empower the youths in all Zonal CDC and Area CDC to make individual's end needs.

Speaking at the grand finale of the one-week vocational training held at Obadara hall, Olomore, Abeokuta, the state Convener, Comrade Usman Ganiyu emphasized the need for entrepreneurship as a major tool to reducing unemployment.

Usman said, "Millions of unemployed youths are roaming about the streets with credentials for white collar jobs, but we need to face the reality on ground. Our government cannot

provide job for all of us."

"The good news about this training is that we have been able to train over400 youths and empower over 120 of them through our self-help intervention and with the support of Industrial Training Funds (ITF) and National Directorate of Employment (NDE) and Crefot Group of Schools"

"The history continued with Nylon production machines and brand-new sewing machine which was given to the youths as empowerment. Also 10 scholarships were given to the trainees to further their training from facilitators.

"We are doing all these to support the administration of His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun to build our future together in our dearest state" he added.

He stressed further that, "as the umbrella body for the State Youth in Community Development, the project has officially commenced in Abeokuta North and it will go round other local governments within the state by God's grace. Part of our plan is to do the training for the entire state youths and it will be in different batches for effectiveness".

He urged all participants to make use of all the advice, instruction, knowledge acquired during the course of their training for the betterment of their career.

He however, commended the Special Assistant to the Governor on youth Empowerment and Job Creation, Mr. Abiola Odetola for the purchase of sewing machine and also giving 6 slots for free skill training with the State Government.

Highlights of the event include; donation of nylon fabric machine, sewing machine, scholarship for skill acquisition training, purchase of NECO form to some outstanding youths.
