Ajibayo Village Threatens To Withdraw Support For University Of Medicine Establishment Over Musa-Olomu's Ordeal

Prof. Musa-Olomu

ABEOKUTA - Residents of Ajibayo Village in Obafemi Owode local government area of Ogun state have threatened to withdraw their support for the establishment of Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences in Abeokuta as the host community following the continuous persecution of the Prof. Musa-Olomu by some cabal at the Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta.

In a protest letter addressed to the Secretary to the Federation and Minister of State for Health, the villagers said they have keenly observed that, professor Olomu's travails at the Centre and discovered hatred, bigotry, vindictiveness and ultimately attempts to bring down the Medical Director from being reappointed.

The protest letter signed by one Chief Kuyoro Kasali described those against the return of Musa-Olomu as cabal, enemies of progress and corruption entities poised to continue their evil acts.

Chief Kuyoro maintained that, since the approval to the site for the proposed Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences in their village, Olomu had facilitated prompt payment of their compensation by the federal government and turned down all gifts to appreciate his good deeds.

He added, many attempts by the land owners to appreciate the embattled Medical Director with financial gifts for his effort at ensuring that no land owner was cheated during the payment, were rejected by the Professor Olomu.

He however, hinted that the community would not hesitate to withdraw their support for the federal government should Prof. Musa-Olomu continued to be exposed to ridicule by those willing to profiteering with the second term appointment selling spurious allegations against the former medical Director.

"We are shocked that, despite the unprecedented achievements and transformation of FMC by Prof. Musa-Olomu, some disgruntled elements and enemy of progress could work against the reappointment of the Chief Medical Director.

"We have observed that, Prof. Olomu's travails at the centre was orchestrated by some people who are not satisfied with the progress of the hospital. Majority of these people are corrupt and they want to ease him out to have their way of taking the hospital backward.

"We believe the accusations against him are concocted because we have tested the Chief Medical Director in so many ways with money. When the issue to establish the proposed Federal University of Medicine and medical sciences in our village, some of our people approached the MD and told him to help them to inflate their land price so that he can get commission over it. He rejected it outrightly. He said, he cannot connive with anyone but he will ensure that, everyone whose land is taken are adequately compensated appropriately and he lived to his word.

"The second time, when we got our money, we collectively went to his office with envelope of money in appreciation of his support for the village, he rejected it and said we should go with our money because it's our Money."

He therefore urged the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and Minister of Health to ignore the cries of the persecutors and confirm the second term appointment of Prof. Musa-Olomu.
