Ogun: Ayorinde Inaugurates Campaign Organization For LG Poll

ABEOKUTA - Ahead of the local government elections schedule for July 24 in Ogun state, a chairmanship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abeokuta North local government, Hon. Adebayo Abdulsalam Ayorinde has set up campaign committee that will strategize on winning the council poll.

Hon. Ayorinde noted that, having contested on two occasions previously in 2012 and 2015, he is well prepared and ready to slug it out with the oppositions in the forthcoming local government elections.

He spoke on Wednesday at the inauguration of his Campaign Organization held at the party secretariat, Lafenwa, Abeokuta.

"The first time I contested was in 2012, I contested again in 2015, as you think, in this race I'm well prepared."

Asked to comment on the proposed local government autonomy, Ayorinde described it as a welcome development, saying it will bring even distribution of dividends of democracy to the grassroots, promising to work with the appropriate institutions to make it a reality.

He said, "It's a good cause for local government to have autonomy, we would dialogue with who we have to dialogue with.

"The information gotten to me, I think the local government autonomy has gone pass the stage of the National Assembly. What we need now is to take 2/3 from the state assembly and most State are actually agreeing with it. So I don't think there's any problem now, it takes time."

The chairmanship candidate therefore, assured that his government would focus more on Agriculture and assist farmers in his local government with basic infrastructure and subsidize farm inputs.

"Like we all know, agriculture if done well with proper security and good road, we will go places. We have to provide the good road for the rural people to get whatever produce they have to get to the town to sell.

"Processing in agriculture is very important, lands and also mechanization. Our Government is ready to subsidized agriculture for farmers. Everybody will survive if agriculture is good and you spend less money in bringing food for yourself. Agriculture is important anywhere in the world and in Nigeria we have a long way to go in Agriculture."
