ABEOKUTA - The Presiding Pastor, Victory Life Bible Church (VLBC), Ogun State, Apostle Lawrence Achudume has appealed to Nigerians not to cheapen their leaders and cursing them or using negative words for them as this will demoralize them from performing well.

Achudume equally admonished Nigerians to respect their leaders as this allows those in authority to succeed in their assignments.

He stated this on Saturday at a breakfast programme in honour of three members of the Church for their exploits in their different field of endeavours.

Apostle Achudume who quoted from Matthew 13:58 in the Holy Bible said Jesus could not perform great miracles in his hometown because he was not respected by his people.

According to the clergyman, this type of attitude, will not bring out the best in those leading the country as people will only get the equivalent of what they take their leaders for.

While noting that many Nigerians fail to respect people in positions of authority who are close to them, the man of God pointed out that lack of respect for leaders is a major challenge to the progress of the country.

Apostle Achudume added that, honouring those who have done well will encourage and give leaders the energy to give their best.

He advised those in leadership positions not just to be in office, but use their positions to affect lives positively.

He urged leaders to be disciplined, trust worthy and good examples that people will look up to for them to succeed in the assignments given to them.

The members of VLBC who were honoured at the breakfast event Dr Taiwo Alakija-Aroyeun, Chairperson of the Society of Women Accountants of Nigeria, (SWAN), Abeokuta Chapter, Prof Olubunmi Agbebi, Chairperson of Fisheries Society of Nigeria, (FISON), Ogun State Chapter and Barr Kamil Abolade, Chairman Nigeria Bar Association of Nigeria, (NBA) Abeokuta Branch were assured by Apostle Achudume that the Church will continue to honour and respect them for their exploits and good representation they gave the church.

He charged them to continue to keep the flag flying saying that this is just the beginning of their journey to greater heights.

The three honourees who are also members of VLBC in their separate remarks appreciated Apostle Achudume for the recognition given them by assuring that they will not drop the ball and continue to project the image of the church positively.
