Adebutu Eulogizes General Olurin In Death, Describes Him A Peace Loving Man

ABEOKUTA - A former member of the Federal House of Representatives and Chairman, Ladi Adebutu Development Organization, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu has described the death of  Peoples Democratic Party’s Gubernatorial Candidate in the 2011 general elections in Ogun state,  General Adetunji Idowu Olurin rtd., as unexpected, shocking, and a colossal loss.


The death of the retired General who was also a former Military Administrator of Oyo State occurred in the early hours of Saturday, 21st August 2021 at the age of 76.


According to Hon. Adebutu in a statement issued on Saturday in Abeokuta by his Media Consultant, Afolabi Orekoya, Adebutu commiserated with the family of the deceased, the good people of Yewaland, Ogun State, and Nigerians in general.


The statement described late Gen. Adetunji Olurin as a man of honor and a great ambassador of Ogun with numerous exceptional and exemplary exploits he made while serving in various capacities. 


“Some of the capacities in which he served while alive include Military Administrator of Oyo State, Civilian Administrator of Ekiti State and in 2006, during the PDP government in Ogun State, he was appointed Chancellor of Tai Solarin University of Education, TASUED, Ijebu Ode, (Nigeria's first University of Education)”. 


“While in active service in the Nigeria Army, he served the country wholeheartedly in many strategic positions too numerous to mention”.


“Towards the 2011 general elections, when he was PDP flag bearer, he displayed true leadership, charisma, and full capacity to move Ogun State forward; a peaceful and fine gentleman who made meaningful contributions to the progress and development of PDP”.


The statement said further that “Gen. Olurin was a peace-loving man and a man of immense wisdom who strived for the good of his fellow-man as well as the progress, growth, and development of his state and country at large, he will surely be missed".


Adebutu in the statement prayed God to grant the Olurin family, the people of Yewaland, his political associates, the people of Ogun State, and his well-wishers to bear the irreparable loss.
