ABEOKUTA - Mr. Akinremi Akinola has been appointed to run the affairs of the Ogun State Shooting Association as interim Chairman ahead of the National Championship slated for Asaba, the Delta State capital between August 30 and September 4, 2021
The six-member committee approved by the State Sports Council, is headed by Akinremi Akinbitan Akinola, Moses Fadairo as Vice-Chairman, Mrs. Damilola Akintemi (Secretary) and the immediate past Vice-Chairman of the state chapter of Sports Writers Association SWAN and Managing Editor of Edu-Biznews, Abdulfatai Sobande retained as member and media officer of the association
Other members include, veteran coach, Olatunji Boluji and Idris Oguntayo who heads the coaching crew of the State's shooting team
The new Chairman, expressed his determination to reposition the state as a strong force in shooting in the country, using private sector initiative to drive the game
Akinola speaking with newsmen in Abeokuta, the state capital, said that the major focus of the committee would be to prepare the shooters and ensure a very good outing in the forthcoming National Championship in Delta State
He promised to think out of the box to initiate regular Competitions to discover talents, nurture them to stardom to represent Nigeria in major International competitions
Akinola assured that he would use his wide connection in the Corporate world, to attract support for the association and the federation within the South-West zone, insisting that, "Sports should be seen as serious business with huge potentials to engage youths and make foreign earnings for the country through export of youngsters to professional clubs in Europe and America".
