ABEOKUTA - The Publisher, Penpushing Media, Prince Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji has called on Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun to emulate the good works of his late father, Pa Emmanuel Abiodun as a guide to aid him in good governance.
The media guru advised while speaking during a condolence visit to the Governor at his Iperu home, to commiserate with him and equally congratulated him for surviving his father whom he said died at the ripe age of 89.
The veteran journalist drew the Governor's attention in emphasizing the good work of the deceased each time he spoke about him as a forthright person who was always concern about the welfare of people around him, and a God-fearing person.
"Your Excellency, let me commiserate with you on the death of your father, and in the same vein, congratulate you for surviving your father who to me by all standard died at a ripe age of 89, and I want to also encourage you to emulate his good work, as you always emphasized each time you spoke about him", Kayode-Adedeji emphasized.
"I want to add this, even if you can't emulate him 100%, I will encourage you to at least emulate him 70%. From what we have been hearing and reading about your late father it was a clear testimony that he lived an exemplary life. I prayed for his soul to continue to rest in perfect peace".
The Governor in response said he has not found it easy since the news of the death was made known to him, recalling his relationship with the deceased who he said was a loving and caring father.
He expressed appreciation to all those who came to mourn with him and disclosed that the burial arrangements would be made known to the public in due course, adding that the remains were on Friday night flown to Nigeria from Manchester in the United Kingdom where he breathed his last after a brief illness.
The bereaved Governor said the family received the corpse late Friday, adding, earlier that when the sad news was broken to him, he thought he was dreaming, stressing that nobody would want his parents to die despite any age, but said he was convinced that with the good work his father did before his demise, he is resting in the bosom of God.
The Governor accompanied by his wife and other family members stated that since his father left the world, it has been soothing for him, because he finds it difficult to believe, and expressed appreciation to all those who came to mourn with him.
"It's been a journey since the demise of my father. It has been soothing. Nobody wants his father to die. I have no doubt he is resting in the bosom of God. My father has no iota of hatred for anybody. A loving husband to his wife. He dedicated his life to the upbringing of his family, he emphasized.
The Governor recalled the role his father played towards his election and eventual emergence as the Ogun State Governor, stressing that, the deceased campaigned vigorously for him during the electioneering campaign, and would remain grateful to him.
"We come from a family with humility. We spent three weeks with him in Manchester. I have no doubt he is resting in the bosom of God. My father doesn't allow my mother to go and babysits, except they go together", Abiodun reminiscences
Abiodun disclosed that his father, as a pastor after his retirement as a teacher won several souls for the Lord, adding that his conduct while bringing his children up was worth emulation.
"My father won many souls as a pastor. We all have our appointed time; we don't have to be professional to affect the lives of people. Let's take moment in our life and see what people say about us", Abiodun added.
"My father has no iota hatred for anybody. A loving husband to his wife. He dedicated his life to upbringing his family. He campaign towards my election victory. We received his body on Friday night from Manchester, United Kingdom.
