ABEOKUTA - A member of Federal House of Representatives representing Abeokuta South federal constituency, Hon. Lanre Edun on Saturday donated wheel chair, kerosene, charcoal and other consumable goods to some selected women in Abeokuta as part of his empowerment programme.

Hon. Edun who was represented by Mrs. Adebola Sunday urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the items.

The material distributed includes: kerosene, charcoal, wheelchair, Noodles, Drinks amongst other.

Mrs. Sunday said, "We are here for women empowerment, this is not our first empowerment, but this year's edition is fantastic because it goes a long way.

"Those materials were given based on what they are selling as they demanded for it and says enough of given them money and also we picked them across Abeokuta South from ward 1 to ward 15".

In his submission, the former Vice chairman of Abeokuta South LG, Mr Tajudeen Shoremekun appreciated the organizer and urged the youth to engage in politics.

"This is not the first of its kind, but this year's edition is very fantastic. I have to thank God for him that he's doing well, the youth should tried to get empowered and join politics at all cost, by doing that they will have the chance in policy making.

"There's no gain in hooliganism and rascality, I urged all youth to shun violence and get something doing."

One of the Constituency leaders, Mr. Ebenezer Olufunmilayo described the programme as a fulfillment of Hon. Lanre's promises in engaging and empowering women.

"Indeed, this is one of his promises before the election, to empower and enhance people to start a business from somewhere or to serve as an addition to the ones they have gotten and is left for them to improve on it, you don't start climbing a house from the top, more so Rome was not built in a day.

"You can see them under the sun reason they don't care was because they are happy which makes them loyal. The fall out of democracy people work for what they have, one might look around and said what is these items but it's a lot if you start with these petty things with time, it will become a whole all"

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Bilikisu Akanni appreciated the organizer and promise to use the item judiciously.

"I appreciate Hon. Lanre Edun for this kind gesture to us in Abeokuta South LG, may the Lord Almighty be with him. Our other representative should emulate him by helping the less privileged."
