Ogun Assembly Member, Adejojo Calls For Rehabilitation Of Saje-Oke-Efon, Oke-Jigbo- Ijaiye Roads

ABEOKUTA - Worried by the deplorable condition of some major roads in the state, a lawmaker representing Abeokuta South State Constituency 1 at the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Yusuf Adejojo has called on Governor Dapo Abiodun to ensure the completion of the abandoned Saje-Oke-Efon road under construction.


Hon. Adejojo who made the plea during personal explanation at a plenary session in the hallowed chamber of the Assembly on Tuesday, also urged the Governor to help in the construction of Ijaiye-Oke-Ejigbo to Ake road and Car wash-Asero to Fajol road which are currently in a deplorable condition.


The lawmaker who is the Chairman, House Committee on Information commended the state governor on transformation of infrastructure in the state, imploring him to cushion the hardship effect of the bad roads on the road users.


He also appealed to the State Ministry of health to make use of the available resources in the ambulance services to aid in the state of emergencies. 


Adejojo said "It’s a common sight of seeing casualties being transported with pickup vehicles, taxi cabs or even bikes which is more risky and lack first aid kit to help in first response to the casualties. I want to plead with the ministry to provide rapid response ambulance to help save more lives."


Responding, the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Taiwo Oluomo directed the State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure as well as the State Public Works Agency to apply palliatives on the Isaje-Oke Efon-Elega, Ijaye-Oke-Ejigbo-Oja Ale-Ake, and Adatan-Car Wash-Obantoko roads to ease vehicular and human movements in the areas when the rain subsides. 


The Speaker called for the effective usage of ambulances put in place by the present administration in each local government area to rescue accident victims during road crashes.
