2023: GNI's First Daughter, Folashade Joins PDP, Pledges Support For Ladi Adebutu

ABEOKUTA - The first child of APC Chieftain in Ogun State, Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka (GNI), Folashade Mistura Isiaka has joined the main opposition, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the State.

Shade, who rejected overtures to join APC was received by the State PDP Chairman, Hon. Sikirulai Ogundele and Hon. Ladi Adebutu on Monday.

The low-key reception held at the Sikirulai Ogundele's Neu Gate hotel had in attendance top PDP stalwarts in the state and top GNI's political associates from Imeko and Ayetoro.

GNI is the Chairman, Ogun Free Trade zone, and political appointee under APC administration in the state. 

Speaking on her defection, elated Folashade in a telephone interview with THE ENCOUNTER NEWS expressed happiness in returning to her former party.

Shade said her decision to join PDP was due to the party's ideology to accommodate everyone and masses oriented policies.

Asked why she did not join her father in APC, she maintained that, as an adult, she has her mind and has made a good decision in joining the umbrella party.

"I am very happy to be a member of PDP under (Gov. Ladi Adebutu), I was happy yesterday. I don't want to join APC. When my people from my polling unit called me to follow them to APC, I told them I'm not interested. I don't like the party.

"Everyone has his/her choice. I am an adult, so I can decide on what I want. It is not that I'm fighting my father, GNI is still my father, and will continue to be my father. I don't think my choice of political party will affect my father's political career or ambition. We are all formerly PDP members, so, it's like going back home "Omobowale".

In his reaction to Folashade's defection, PDP chairman in the state, Hon. Sikirulai Ogundele commended her for joining the umbrella party in the state.

He said, "I appreciate the level of her independence to have thought to be on her own. No doubt, she must have seen something wrong in APC.

"No sensible person will be associated with APC today. The hardship in the country orchestrated by APC led administration is enough for sensible people to reject the party. Nigerians celebrated 61 independence anniversary with hardship. So, I commend her for joining PDP. APC is an occultic and cabalistic party. If you don't belong to the cabal, you can't get anything in the party.

"I don't refer to them as political party, the only democratic party is PDP."

Asked if there is plan to bring GNI back to the party, Ogundele said, "We are not only bringing GNI back to PDP, we are talking to the reasonable ones in APC. Starting from OGD. Thank God we have put our differences behind us. We are bringing the reasonable young and old APC members to PDP and I don't have doubt in my mind that, the move is already yielding result."
