Ayorinde Promises Facelift For Olomore Market, Ori-Omi Garden

ABEOKUTA North local government Chairman, Prince Adebayo Ayorinde has promised to facilitate a public-private partnership that will see the redevelopment of the Olomore Market and Oba Adeleye Green Park, popularly known as Ori-Omi, in Sokori area of the local government.

The Council Chairman noted this when briefing newsmen shortly after an assessment visit to both sites in Abeokuta.

Prince Ayorinde pointed out that the Olomore market deserves an upgrade that measures up to its status as a major market in the local government, saying one of his administration's priorities is making Abeokuta north a beautiful and sustainable environment for all.

He added that a serene and liveable Abeokuta North is a task that must not fail or falter, and all hands must be on deck to make it a reality.

"We have come here to visit the Olomore market as well as the Oba Adeleye park which we all know as Ori Omi gardens to ascertain the viability of upgrading both facilities under PPP arrangement."

"For instance, at Olomore market, we will require the cooperation of the market men and women for us to upgrade the market in line with best practices obtainable. We cannot facilitate any development or rebuilding here without putting the plight of our people here into consideration. It will be a win-win situation for everybody, that I can assure you"

"What we intend to do with the Oba Adeleye Park is to give it a new look and ensure that it is a beehive of activities which will make it a mini attraction site of some sort to people living in Abeokuta metropolis. It is a project we are very much interested in and will bring to fruition. A new Abeokuta North local government is our main priority." he said.

He reiterated that those occupying the market and Park must take sanitation and hygiene issues as their personal and collective responsibility.

Others on the entourage of the Council Chairman are the Vice Chairman, Hon. Ayoola Oluajo, the Head of Local Government Administration, Mr. Babatunde Owolabi, Director, General Services and Administration, Mr. Gboyega Akioye as well as other environmental staff of the local government.
