Ogun Youth In Community Trains 50 Youths In Catering, Tie and Dye, Barbing


ABEOKUTA - Ogun State Youth in Community Development Committee, Abeokuta North zone has empowered not less than 50 youths who were trained in three different art craft.


The selected youths were trained in catering services, tie & dye and barbing.


The beneficiaries were given start-up packs worth N750,000 to establish their businesses.


Speaking at the presentation of the empowerment kit, the State Convener and Zonal Youth Rep, Usman Ganiyu Olamilekan, said the beneficiaries were picked across the 10 Area CDCs in Abeokuta north local government.


Usman noted the lack of white collar job motivated the community development association to embark on self help for the youths.


He maintained that, the principles of the CDA is to transform Nigeria into a safe country where social justice becomes the order of the day.


He added that the skill acquisition training would cut across all local government areas in the state.


"What we are witnessing today about Youth in Community Development activities all over Ogun State and very soon by God grace all over Nigeria started here at Ori Omi 5 years ago in Abeokuta North. Today the gospel has spread across the 3 Senatorial District of the State and 20 Local Government respectively. We can confidently speak of nothing less than 10,000 youths across the state who are now actively into selflessness services for the growth and development of mankind.


"On employment, this is a product of our conviction that the "Self-help is the best help and also the surest help". This has motivated us into mass skill acquisition as an alternative to white-collar jobs which is nowhere to be found. Across the 10 Area CDCs in our Local Government, we have trained nothing less than 1500 youths. 


"As part of activities marking our 3rd anniversary of youth in community celebrations, we've given special training to 50 participants on Catering (20) Tie&Dye (20) Barbing (10), and start-up pack is already on ground for them to kick start the business immediately.


"Our general mission is to use the Community Development Association to transform Nigeria into a State of our dreams where principles and character reign supreme and social justice become the norms. We the Youth in Community across Ogun State has therefore resulted into the mass mobilization of our youths into self-reliance as government cannot do it all alone."


Meanwhile, about 15 notable dignitaries were awarded different categories of awards.


Among those awarded are; Ogun state Commissioner for Rural Development, Hon. Taiwo Oludotun, Hon. Wale Bello, Barr. Habeeb Whyte, Comrade Adesina Adejumo, Funmi Coker, Lukmon Adiro, Hon. Modupe Mujota and Chief Kazzem Ajagunjeun among others.


The Chairman, Abeokuta North local government, Hon. Adebayo Ayorinde was decorated as Patron of the group, while 10 Area CDC youth Ambassadors were decorated.
