We Have Not Received Petitions Challenging Ogun APC Congress - Appeal Committee

ABEOKUTA - The Chairman of the five-man Ogun APC Appeal Committee, Hon. Patrick Obahiagbon has revealed that, despite report of a parallel State Congress in the State, the five-man Appeal Panel did not receive any petition since its arrived Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital on Monday, October 25.

The Appeal Committee Chairman disclosed that in absence of any petition, the appeal committee would conclude its report and send back to the National secretariat.

Obahiagbon disclosed this on Wednesday at a press briefing held at Conference hotel Abeokuta, Ogun state.

He also stated that, the appeal committee has the mandate of the party’s national secretariat to examine any petition arising from the state congress.

While stressing that the appeal committee was the only mechanism put in place by the party leadership for aggrieved party members to seek redress on any issue related to the Ogun state APC congress, he disclosed that since there was no petition, they will have to report what has been recorded.

"You will recall that we have opportunity of briefing the media on Monday, where upon we announced to the Ogun State APC, public, the presence of the State Congress appeal committee in Ogun state.

" You will recall that, at the media interface, we did noted that, our core mandate was to receive, treat, review, and attend to petitions, if any, arising from the state congress, that was conducted on the 16th October, 2021 in Ogun state.

"You will also recall that, we seized the opportunity of that media interface to announce the venue, date and time of the committee sitting and that we will sit for clear 2days. 

"We have sat for two days now, and no person or persons have approach this state Congress appeal committee of any petition. We are in the circumstances of the view that, the Ogun State APC political class are satisfied that, the congress that took place on the 16th October 2021 was in substantial compliance with both the Constitution of APC, the extant regulations rolled out by the Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee and of course, with the clear provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

" What is left for us now, is to write our report and submit same to the Caretaker Extraordinary and Convention Planning Committee of the APC, that we intend to do and very timely so that we too can meet the timeline for this assignment.

"It is clear therefore that, this brings to a "terminus acuem" of the "terminus acuem" that we commenced on Monday."
